Cycle
Our game “Cycle” is built around this dark and uneasy feeling that something is off, even when everything looks normal at first glance. We start off in a simple hallway. Nothing seems odd at first, but as you repeat the loop, small things change, such as maybe the painting changing its color or even as obvious as the sprinklers going off. It's not about the obvious horror or jump scares in this horror game, but rather a more psychological approach. It messes with your perception and makes you question yourself and what you remember as “normal”. Was this light always off? Wasn't there a vase here? That's the whole point we wanted to capture, to force players to pay attention to details that most people might ignore. There is also an underlying idea that something more sinister is going on, something controlling the space, keeping you in a repetitive loop until you pass it, which adds to the tension. The environment itself IS the story, and weird things happen; the space doesn't follow normal logic, sounds sometimes don't match where we are, and spaces open up where they shouldn't exist. Cycle is being stuck in a repeating reality that slowly breaks apart, and the only way out is trusting your own awareness.
